Description

Using the Cap to our advantage.

The Ducks need to reach the floor and need to either promote some players from within or sign some. This gives them a top 4 D, a former 1st round pick that could do with a change of scenery, and Kapanen. (Might have to add a little more to this or take a higher round pick.)

Vegas is way over the cap and still needs player to fill their roster. This gives them a little more wiggle room without costing them a ton to open up some cap space. (I saw what they got in return from Carolina for Pacioretti.)

This gives Pittsburgh a little better bottom 6 with room for some of the younger guys to play without risking loosing someone in waivers.

Vegas just extended Smith. It won't be good(for the already damaged PR) to trade someone you just signed

Who would take him? He is a pending UFA with a back weighted contract owed 3 mil in real money this season, he lost the backup role to an AHL goalie, had a sub .900 SV%, and he is on IR. What would it cost to get him off Vegas' books?

According to CapFriendly, they're 1.4mil over the cap with only 16/23 players signed... If they sign players at league min to fill out the roster, they need just under 7.5 million in Cap space... This isn't just going to be sending 1 player to the minors or trading away a pick and player to get compliant.
