im more than aware how amazing buchnevich is but do the isles have another option? whats the goal of this team? contend for a cup be mediocre? if its to win a cup you have to make this trade.

Making this trade would actually make them mediocre. The upgrade to Tarasenko is minimal when you consider Beauvillier will likely bounce back and Tarasenko will regress.

The goal should be to get younger and not throw away assets for minimal upgrades. I'd rather see Wahlstrom on Barzals wing than Tarasenko , its better for the isles short and long term. Contending doesn't mean overpaying for players who don't move the needle

Great players usually get put with great line mates. His shooting % wasn't too far above his career average I don't think, I'll have to check again. If you watch a lot of his goals or even find plays where he assisted on them, he was a huge part of making it happen. Most importantly the dude just still has his scoring touch. He probably takes a step back from being over a ppg and leading the team but I still see him potting 30+ goals. Hell he could end up having a better season for all we know. Perrons best seasons have came in his 30s

I am not doubting Tarasenko is a good player, but he's not worth a 1st and he's not a top line winger on a contender. Perron is a unicorn, for every 1 player that plays well into their mid 30s there are 100's of players who fall off a cliff

I don’t think people realize how great Buchnevich and Thomas were last season. Both were top 10 at their positions. Tarasenko had his highest S% since 2015 and his on ice S% (because of great linemates) was high as well. He is a prime regression candidate next season. He’ll still be a good player, but more of a 2nd liner than an elite wing

Yeah I just checked it. If you don't include the severe outlier of 6.2% in 20-21 when he was dealing with all sorts of crap and had barely played hockey for 2 season, his career avg is 12.94 so he shot a little above that.

Like I said, I think you need to throw that 20-21 season in the trash personally, which that chart is including. May not look much different without it, but still. And I just disagree, he's not an all situations winger. But on most contenders I'd seem him get the majority of Ozone starts and be on the top pp. Just my opinion though, I might be wrong.
