Add a top line center another defensive RHD and this team could be playoff bound

Created by: gretzkyghosts
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2022
Published: Jul. 31, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Olofsson - Kadri - Quinn 70 goals
70 may be a low estimate for this line.
Olofsson and Quinn with Nazem as their center could each exceed 25 goals along with Nazem

Skinner - Thompson - Tuch 70 goals
This may also be a low estimate.
This is 13 goals fewer than they had last year and Tuch only played 50 games

Asplund - Mittelstadt - Hinostroza 40 goals
40 may be a reach for this line as they only combined for 27 last year.
I am presuming Asplund will reproduce his score skills he demonstrated when he skated with Casey during the end of the 2020-2021 season.
I would never presume Vinnie would produce as well as Tage, but if he played 82 games with a better center he may be close to 20 goals, along with Casey.

Girgensons - Cozens - Okposo 50 goals
That would be a lot of goals for a fourth line.
But they combined for 44 goals last year and Kyle did not play with a center as talented as Dylan
Cozens could be a perfect fourth line center adding needed grit that many past Sabre teams lacked.

Defense 35 goals
Last season our defense scored 28 goals.
I think it is safe to presume Power will get that total up to 35.

Total 265 goals, 33 more than last year which would rank them about 13th in the league.

The key to making the playoffs is to reduce the GA by an equal amount to 257 or less.
Together Comrie, Lyubushkin, Stralman, Power, with better emergency GK and better offense keeping the puck out of the defensive zone, this could happen.

I have the same Kadri idea but I think 7-7.5 is max of what he gets. A team will trade him and retain 50% but at 9 m that’s still 4.5 m a year and he’d need flipped again to get that down to 2.25

Kadri isn't signing a 1 year deal and if by some miracle he does 7-7.5 isn't doing it. 9 minimum on a one year minimum. MASSIVE MASSIVE overpay on Stralman he's done he's been done since TB let him wLk

Stralman is shot, he wouldn’t even improve our D at this point besides being a 7th depth piece
