Yeah I can’t tell u how many times I wondered why Carolina took that bust Noah Hanifin lol. Any Draft where you walk out with Hanifin, Aho and Roy is a success.

It’s a joke. Let the rich get richer. I am over the moon from that draft however. The only team I think that drafted better was Minnesota with kirill. You obviously have to put edmonton in the question for biggest winners from that draft even though their only good pick was a no brainer.

Especially 1st round flops in jake bean (13th overall pick) and julien gauthier (21st overall pick) , could've had Chychrun and Kyrou.

They had him for like a year or two. Traded his signing rights for two seconds which sucks when you see fox for two seconds but really it was two seconds for a guy who was going to leave for free.

Marino wouldn’t sign. But not bad value for late round picks. Blame Edmonton for not keeping both guys. Instead they got a 6th and Warren Foegele.

Bear, Bouchard and Marino > Bouchard, Ceci and Barrie

I more wonder why Francis didn’t take Boston’s trade offer. We needed defense at that point. If Francis could have predicted that Slavin and Pesce were going to turn into what they have, we probably draft differently in 2014 and 15

That's sucks when prospects don't sign with their drafted team after college. Vesey , Butcher and Fox

They outsmarted themselves with that Hamilton deal. It ended up being a disaster. Foxy played with an old coach of mine’s kid. He says everyone knew he would wait for NYR no matter where his rights were dealt. I doubt he would’ve played for the devils or the isles if he got the chance.

That's sucks when prospects don't sign with their drafted team after college. Vesey , Butcher and Fox

Blake Wheeler and Kevin Hayes lol.

Shouldn’t be allowed. Every NHL player should have to play where they r drafted. Shouldn’t be able to be a **** and out wait the team that gave u a chance. Especially as a late round pick.

I more wonder why Francis didn’t take Boston’s trade offer. We needed defense at that point. If Francis could have predicted that Slavin and Pesce were going to turn into what they have, we probably draft differently in 2014 and 15

I believe Boston rejected our offer. They called on 5th OA and Francis’s asking price was 13-15. Bruins said no I believe.

They probably would’ve taken Connor and Chabot in that case. I feel like Francis must’ve had his eyes on Aho already so he took Hanifin who he thought was a lock to be a #1 d man. And to his credit he was right.

But they were willing to make that deal to move up to 3rd and get the same guy. Idiots.

At this point I just need Morrow, Kochetkov, and Trikizov to hit their potential and we are good. Of course a couple of others for solid depth as well

Agreed but I don’t really hate the hanifin pick. Chabot and Werenski put up more points but r they actually better? Idk.

I think it should be a qualifying vs not qualifying system. You can tender an ELC to a person on the reserve list if you choose to but if not they become UFAs like the current system. Even if it resulted in fox for like a year or two before walking, a system like that would have greatly improved his value to the organization.

Can't blame wheeler for bailing the coyotes , but Kevin Hayes come on! Ridiculous. I have a feeling Matthew Knies is going down the road. NHL should implement update some rules.

Tbh carolina has such a deep pool, so many other guys could hit on their potential and those 3 miss and I would still be content. Gleb is my favorite prospect in the system but there are many other guys who could hit on their potential and be great players.

It was a good pick for what we needed at the time. Drafts are crap shoots so you’ll take the best available and hope they pan out.
