TOR is trying to win now, doesn’t have a LD spot for Sandin, are up against the cap, but don’t want to lose the young talent. By swapping for someone a little earlier in development they’ll have a LD spot when the prospect is ready, avoid the cap hit now, and get young talent in return

I think 3.5 million is more realistic for Bunting. Why haven't you resigned Kampf, the guy has potential to be the best shutdown center in the league.
