Kane is 50 percent retained and Toews is 15. Both teams win in this scenario. Vegas gets 2 skilled veterans to help them for a cup push (keep in mind they have 3 so they have experience) and a hopeful pick for Conor Bedard or if not a most likely top 5 pick. Vegas also gets rid of a few contracts that they most likely can’t afford. If Vegas has a bad year, then they can trade Kane at the deadline for more picks/prospects. Now on Chicagos side, they are acquiring a couple of veterans that they need as part of the rebuild, and young promising players. Although they get rid of that first round pick, they make up for it with all the assets that they acquire. Plus, they also have Tampas 1st round pick which should be around the #25 spot.

Not sure if Chicago wants to give up their first as they need a ton of prospects to help with their rebuild. Vegas does offer a good package (assuming the Chicago pick is around #5), but I doubt that Marchessault, Stephenson and Martinez want to play in Chicago.

Oh don’t get me wrong I’m sure those guys wouldn’t be excited to go to chicago. But when’s the last time vegas has actually cared about the well being of their players
