You'd have to scrap the ZAR and Sprong signings and pay Milano more. So basically it becomes Milano and Erod vs Carter and Kapanen.

But yeah - both curious moves by Hextall

Not really. I mean Carter is a good 3rd line center for the cap he has. Idk why everyone hates Carter all a sudden. It made even more sense considering what he did the first handful of games after we got him. If they don’t re-sign him then the pens probably don’t make the playoffs last year and aren’t nearly as good. He and ERod held the fort while Crosby and Malkin started the season on the shelf. It’s not like Carter had a bad season. More like he just ran out of gas at the end from playing so much early on. As a 3C he is really good though. Much more consistent than ERod.
