Description
Buffalo eats some cap for the year. Adding Nash and Plekanec add some veteran presence and hopefully scoring throughout the line up, while adding a couple 2nd round picks that we can either use or package in other deals later on.

Carrier and Nash play similar games IMO, giving the Rangers something to work with in exchange for cap room.

Plekanec is a simple cap dump so they can re-sign Radulov. Girgensons slides right into the bottom 6 at C or W, and is still young and has potential to move up the line up.


Pay Vegas with a young, speedy, normally exempt forward and a middling pick to take Moulson, not that he'd be totally useless otherwise. Bottom 6 winger with PP2 time should be plenty effective.



Strapped for cash this year, but we have just under 29M in cap space in 2018-2019 after everyone comes off the books, more than enough to re-sign Eichel, Reinhart, Kane, etc.

    I like the Nash trade, but I think we would have to give them the pick. Nash is still a good player & will have some other interested teams, even at his salary

    Don't like the Plekanec trade at all

    Quite by accident you've made Buffalo a playoff team. Big Rick can still be a phenominal player when healthy and in form, but the Sabres will need to give more in the deal.

    Also I find people's opinion's of Plekanec bizzare. Although his contract is sizeable, he's a top notch centerman and would be a highly valued asset on every NHL team.
