Sabres 15

Created by: grovercleveland
Team: 2017-18 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2017
Published: May 21, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1.) Botterill wants to build a winner in the AHL, so I'll be keeping some of the young guys down there.

2.) This site overvalues middle pair defensemen

3.) this site thinks vegas won't take on any contracts through the expansion draft. I'd rather take a guy with 1-2 years left to get to the cap, then hand out 4 year deals in free agency.

U gotta stop saying that Gorges "can play 2nd pair"
    No, he can't
He's a mediocre 3rd pair guy at this point
Vegas likely won't take him for a couple reasons
1- there will be MUCH better defensemen available
2- they have to pick 7 guys that can go to the AHL, so a guy like Ullmark or Carrier would be more appealing
*maybe we could talk them into Moulson or Bogosian or Ennis, but we'd have to at least throw them a pick (if not more) to take on one of those guys

Ennis has zero trade value right now. Maybe we could move him, but it would likely be for a low pick (5th maybe?)
We're probably better off keeping him to see if he can bounce back under a new coach

Which works, bc there's no chance Williams signs here.
"Mr. game7" will have offers from contenders
    Also,
PA Parenteau is t signing here for that cheap, or to play on the 4th line

Why on earth do u continue to put Moulson on line2?
At this point, he's a 4th liner who can play on the PP
    I don't get what you're thinking here

Sorry for all that busting on ya,
    however...

I think your trade with Minny is very well put together
1- they have guys at forward & defense they can't protect
2- you offer fair value imo
3- we're sending back assets they don't have to protect
One of the best thought out trades I've seen here

I thought I'd end with something nice,
    since I was such a d!ck earlier

    Go Sabres!

I guess I'll take these one at a time.

1.) Gorges: I laid out my rationale and I'll stand by it
2.) a 3rd round pick is barely anything. Like 7% stick in the NHL.
3.) Fair enough on williams, but I did up the AAV as an enticement
4.) Parenteau has been a 4th liner who plays pp for a few years. He was signed by NJ in like august last year
5.) Moulson was producing early in the year last year. New coach, who knows. Its not like he has to stay there forever.

As youve mentioned, gorges isnt very good. That left side is the problem. You have mccabe. You may have guhle who has 4 games in the nhl. Gorges was so misused by bylsma, i dont know what he even is, but my guess is #7 at this point. Antipin has not signed, and he may prefer playing the right. If im moving reinhart, its for one piece to play the left side of the with risto

Fair enough. I'm obviously assuming Antipin signs. I also signed a vet LHD that botterill had in Pitt.
