That a not to bad trade to do. The first round pick is late year one but could still bring some value for taking cap space for only one year.

Also Monahan became part of short list of MTL player who have only one year left and could be use a trade bait during Deadline:

Drouin, Byron, Dadonov, Monahan If they are healthy and have make a decent first half of season they could bring back some asset to help in the rebuild. i,m not really talking about big superstar player or high end pick, but still some thing could be receive for them and more if mtl accept to keep some money over it.
