And Matt Duchene. The logic here is that these players would be exposed so it would be smart to get them below their normal value.

Why would Vegas take Lack over Subban or Raanta?

Sorry I didn't make it clearer. Duchene trade isn't because he would be exposed, Canes should be targeting him anyway for the right price. I think Sakic will be forced to lower his prices and I can see this deal going down on draft day.

The 3rd round pick is an incentive to take Lack over those goalies (they may even take both with Lack). McPhee has stated that he will be looking to add picks for unwanted players. Lack didn't fit well with the Canes but I think he still has potential to be a solid back up with the right goalie coach. Throw in a 3rd and Vegas may bite.

Pretty sure that Anaheim plans on protecting Silfverberg, Don't see them dealing him.

I don't see Lack as a guy Vegas would have any interest in and I say this as a Canucks fan who loves him. I can understand an argument of them being convinced to take Ward as a kinda 1 and 1a mentorship of a young goalie but not Eddie. He's not experienced enough.

Obviously they'd love to, but I figured they'd be going 4 forwards (Getz, Perry, Kesler on NMC, plus Rakell) and 4 defense men (Bieksa on NMC, Vatanen, Lindholm and Theodore/Manson). Who do you think they'll protect?

Yeah, it may take more to sweeten the pot. I just think Lack has a higher ceiling at this point in his career. I don't see Ward staying in Vegas more than his 1 contract year with his son having all of his medical specialists in Raleigh.

At the end of the day, this is still my best case scenario and I really see Vegas taking whoever we don't protect out of Stempniak, McGinn, and Di Giuseppe.

Ducks will buyout Bieksa before expansion draft to avoid protecting him

Ward wouldn't be in Vegas because of his ceiling he'd be there to help teach Subban or Raanta how to be a starting goalie in the nhl. If you want young players to improve they need mentors. Though I fully expect Vegas to sign Ryan Miller to do that. His family lives in LA so it would be close for him and they won't have to waste a pick in expansion draft to get him

Anaheim will probably protect Perry, Rakell, Getzlaf, Kesler, Colgliano, Silfverberg, then trade Vatanen or Fowler for another forward and protect that forward. Bieksa will waive his no movement clause or they will buy him out and then protect Lindholm, Manson, Fowler/Vatanen whichever is't traded. Theodore is exempt from the expansion draft.

A third round pick isn't enough to get rid of Lack. Vegas will have a choice of lots of good goalies and Lack isn't one. Of course you have followed the script of so many that Vegas doesn't care about the quality of their players or the their cap.
