That's too much IMO, and Chychrun isn't the type of defenseman Edmonton should targeting anyhow.

Why not target him?

Because it's too much to give up for a mediocre defender. Edmonton needs someone who can actually defend, not another offensive guy.

Chychrun is pretty strong defensively. And, by his standards, he had a down year offensively. The only woe is that he's a LD and the Oilers could really use a player of his calibre on the right side.

Chychrun is pretty strong defensively.

His coach certainly doesn't think so. He'd rather run Gostisbehere and Mayo against the opponents best players. That's a major tell.

Wrong, 20-21, vs only the weak Southwest, was the anomaly.

18-19: 0.73 P/60 at 5v5
19-20: 0.86
20-21: 1.52
21-22: 1.05

This was driven largely by ridiculous shooting luck against weak competition. Here it is in all situations P/GP:

18-19: 0.38 P/GP
19-20: 0.41
20-21: 0.73
21-22: 0.45

Again, 20-21 was the anomaly, not 21-22.
