I would be very surprised if anyone except the AVS fanbase would think this is, one fair and two a good idea.

i dont think it's unfair but it's certainly not a good idea for the habs.

Nick Suzuki's value is a lot higher than Girard and a late 1st and 3rd round pick. Both picks are 2 and 3 years away respectively. No way Hughes accepts that.

Yeah good luck paying Suzuki nearly $8,000,000 and giving Mackinnon nearly $13,000,000 per and giving decent money to Byram and Newhook.

Well, because of Mackinnon contract loaming next year too. It will be hard to fit it. Besides I don't see anything in MTL system that can go in and be a nr 1 C, also doubting Girard is the solution on the backend for them... I could see AVS trading Mackinnon if they feel like they are not going to be able to resign him or if he is pricing himself out of Colorado. Because the return would be enormous.

Would be a bad move for the Habs. Probably good for the Avs if they can manage the cap. The picks are too far away and with the first being likely low end there isn't the value there for the Habs to consider it. Logically Newhook has to be going back in the deal for the Habs to think about it.

AVS have late picks, so unless the return is really worth it, a trade like this would never happen. Best Habs could send is Dvorak for a moderate return from the Avs which would not hurt the Colorado in the long run.

For those saying the 4M+ hit would be too much for AVS take note that the Cap will probably jump up considerably for 23-24 which will make his salary acceptable and able to sign McK in the high numbers.

i think I'd include Newhook. we'd have a set top 6 for awhile. Newhook would probably want a change anyways if we brought in Suzuki.

AVS can’t keep their players with Suzuki.

Good move for the AVS, but Suzuki is worth more than that.
