Dream Canucks Past

Created by: Canuckle
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 30, 2022
Published: Aug. 30, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just wanted to imagine what the Canucks would look like if FO hit with all of their moves in recent memory. It's important to note that some of moves would not have happened without each other so it is not a completely accurate representation. I also tried to include a good mix between our current scenario and the dream scenario just to make it feel a bit more realistic.

Imagine a PP1 of Tkachuk Miller Pastranak Pettersson Hughes and a PP2 of Toffoli Horvat Podkolzin Kuzmenko Montour.

Question: How does this team stack up against current Stanley Cup contending Teams (Colorado, Tampa, Florida, Carolina)?

Edit: Holtby and Virtanen are never signed so there is another 2.4 million dollars of cap space.

Additional Details:

VAN
OTT
  1. Mikheyev, Ilya
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. Pearson, Tanner
Additional Details:
All three would not be a part of the team.

Pearson was not involved in a Gudbranson trade because the Canucks had never traded McCann.

Tyler Myers was never signed, just that.

Ilya Mikheyev was not signed due to the excess of talent already in the forward group.
6.
VAN
  1. Montour, Brandon
Additional Details:
Controversial choice but I went with Montour as the Canucks 24th overall selection in the 2014 draft. I could have gone with Devon Toews but he was ranked way lower in the draft rankings. There is also amazing talent in the selections after such as Point and Arvidsson but those selections are just as unlikely since the Canucks already have a solid Top 9 forward group.
FLA
7.
VAN
  1. Pastrnak, David
Additional Details:
Too unrealistic? Canucks draft David Pastranak over... him with the 6th overall selection in the 2014 draft.
BOS
8.
VAN
  1. Forsling, Gustav
  2. Tkachuk, Matthew
Additional Details:
Canucks never trade Forsling for Clendening.

Canucks select Tkachuk instead of Juollevi in the 2016 draft with the 5th overall selection.
FLA
9.
VAN
  1. Tanev, Christopher
  2. Toffoli, Tyler
Additional Details:
If Benning stopped the fabric of space-time and had all the time in the world to sign the two.

Poolman is never signed for 2.5x4.

Benning cannot stop the fabric of space-time. Only I can do that.

Sharks say thanks for the free 7th round pick...

What surprises me the most is that there is still cap space left with this roster. I'm sure things would have fallen very differently had certain moves or picks been different, but that is a great looking roster!
