Price gets all the money he’s owed. As to how much is paid by insurance, we don’t know, since that’s a private thing between the habs and Price. Not that it matters though, since the habs can afford to overspend the cap by more than $10 million anyways.

Really there no such thing as LTIR retired, He's either eligible to go on LTIR or he retires. And going on LTIR now and for the season doesn't mean, the Has get off without possible cap implications, A player has to try to get medical fit in order to stay on LTIR and Price has four year contract......otherwise he retires.

If you remember the Leafs were more than hoping that he stayed on LTIR. His last summer he was deemed to not medically fit. No, LTIR is not a get out cap hell freebie.
Roberto Luengo retired because he didn't want to go on the strict get to back to health regiment. He retired and the Canucks were stuck with cap recapture penalties.
