Tatar is either a cap casualty or a roster player; we would have to be sellers to retain. In that case, I think it's fair value for the Tatar we saw last year. Is Buyalsky any good?

He is a low end middle 6 prospect prob won't ever break a top 9.

My take on Buyalsky is that he's very boom or bust, with a much higher probability of bust. He has a long ways to go, but he's an interesting prospect to have in the system.

Tbh though, little is really known since he's from the same country as Borat (not exactly a hotbed for nhlers). Basically we have one year of the USHL to go off of.

Value would be fair without retention, but the combination of the pick being so far away and Buyalsky being a long shot means you'd probably be outbid. This is all assuming Tatar doesn't return to form.

That's good value for Colorado, but I think they'd prefer to save that pick and target a forward who's more suited to playoff hockey than Tatar.

Buyalski is a phenomenal skater, absolutely awesome to watch. Definely watch some of his YT highlights because its fun watching how easily he blows past people. A one man transition machine.

That said, beyond the skating there are a lot of question marks. His offense is a bit limited and defensively he has work to do. But this is also based off limited viewings as he's only played one season in NA. If he puts it together he'd be a fun top 6 forward to watch. Very boom or bust though.
