Description
I read an article the other day from jack han about mat barzal and how he desperately needs a legit 1st line winger preferably with speed to maximize his talents. So it got me thinking, who is going to be next summers alex debrincats and matthew tkachuks? After making my way through every team and finding some possibilities i came to the conclusion that the most likely younger winger who could fit with NYI and might actually be traded was SJS winger timo meier. So i set off trying to craft a proposal that might work.
Keep in mind a couple of things. This is based on the alex debrincat deal. And this is assuming grier decides this roster cant compete (which is imo the logical outcome).

As for the varly trade i know he has a 16 team NTC and might decline this trade but there are always teams looking for goaltending at the TDL so it could be any team.

Disagreements are certainly fine and sometimes appreciated as they help me understand things better and from other perspectives but please try to keep the comments civil.

Picks 19 and 27 along with 2 solid prospects and josh bailey. Bailey must be moved for cap reasons but hes still a 45-50 point forward who would only have 1 year left and be a good veteran leader to have in a locker room. He does take away some value to the trade but based off of debrincats deal (7, 39, and a 3rd 2 years away) who is a better player already signed at a good number in a significantly worse draft i think its pretty fair.

The Alex DeBrincat trade was a royal joke, Kyle Davidson just gave him away. Debrincat was worth far more than a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Pierre Dorian took him to the cleaners on that one.

Please give me a recent comp that fits your claim that meier should get a lot more. Or is it just your opinion that he should get more without any basis for it.

1st mayfield is a lot better than hakanpaa. 2nd maybe they go for an offensive dman and mayfield gets moved somewhere else but thats the going rate for players like him and dallas does need a RD2 thats why i picked them.

Mayfield is better than Hakanpaa but I don’t think it’s a massive difference. Not enough of a difference for those picks. I realize Chairot and Savard got returns like that, but those were over pays imo. If somebody wants to pay that much for Mayfield (and it isn’t Dallas) I will be happy for the Isles as I do like the team and most Isles fans are pretty solid to talk to, yourself included. I understand your thought process on 2RD. I just don’t care for the trade. I don’t think Dallas is good enough to be trading first or even second round picks. Obviously need to see how things go under DeBoer, but I’d be very surprised if the need on the back end wasn’t for an offensive dman
