Take into account the cap should be north of $73 million next season so we wouldn't the in negative cap space. Now here's where I think this all makes sense, Tanner Glass needs to go! If he made the minimum amount you could pay someone maybe he'd be ok here but since he's making nearly $1.5 mil a season the Rangers must unload his contract. The Klein deal makes sense if you do it before the 15-16 trade deadline, Klein is coming off a great season and his value is very high right now, Winnipeg would acquire Klein to help bolster their blue line with a good seasoned right handed Dman, and for Brendan Lemiuex you could argue this was a steal for them. The Stamkos trade made sense if you read between the lines, assuming Stamkos is not extended by the deadline the lightning would look to get as much value out of him as possible. Well, adding Rick Nash a proven 40+ goal scorer could immediately replace Stamkos' goal scoring to a fair extent, Oscar lindberg a young gritty forward could easily crack the lightning roster and could very well be effective for them, and the picks speak for themselves. The Marc Staal trade is knee hat is simply to stay under the cap, Jack Johnson although a couple of inches shorter is much tougher and more effective offensively. Yes any Ranger fan having to deal Marc Staal would be as hard as can be seeing what he's done for us, but if it means Steven Stamkos it's worth it. In the end the Rangers get a franchise center in Stamkos and make room for younger players to come up like young goal scorer Adam Tambellini, little Mcdonagh Brady Skjei, and tough Dylan Mcilrath.

      1) Kreider will get more than that.
      2) Hayes will DEFINITELY get more than that.
      3) You're really trading a 40 goal winger and basically all of your picks for the next 2 years for a center who, in the playoffs, proved he wasn't really even needed on a deeper team? Stamkos is a great player, but he's proving himself as someone you don't really need to build a team around.
      4) Why is Stepan moving to wing? He's one of the most underrated defensive centers in the league. Sure, he's not a great faceoff man, but neither is anyone on the Rangers except Moore. A better setup down the middle would be Stamkos-Brassard-Zucc, Kreider-Stepan-Hayes.

Yea I gotta agree with the guy above me. Kreider will get probably around 5 AAV, and Hayes is probably going to be at 3 at the very least. I'd also switch out Tambellini for Buchnevich, I think he'll be ready to make an impact when he comes over from the Russia (fingers crossed that is next season).

Also Stamkos is going to get more than Toews or Kane, don't forget Toronto will pay anything for this hometown talent. 11 mil +
