1) I honestly don't think Toews gets you that much, especially if you don't cover 50% of his salary
2) Edmonton can't afford Kane at 33% retained. They will need at least 60% covered (50 from Chicago, the rest from another team) in order to fit him under the cap based on their cap situation now if the season plays out as expected (no major injuries, etc.)
3) If that's all you're able to get for Domi, then he must have had a terrible season
4) Valimaki will cost a lot more than a 3rd to aquire

Fair point i wouldn’t do compther for toews 1 for 1 but it’s more name recognition. Also domi hasn’t been that good

CHI fans are turning into MTL fans. Toews doesn’t have actual value. He hasn’t been good defensively for years, now he isn’t producing offensively. If he were even as remotely good as this trade would suggest CHI wouldn’t have been spending the off season unloading real assets like DeBrincat. I mean even at 50% retained you are trying to sell that a 35yr old guy making $5M with bad metrics and who just scored 30 odd points has value. That’s funny. Hard pass from COL.

looks good imo
BUT you lose the Kane trade ... and badly... their first is going to be late, puljujarvi is young and probably wants to compete for playoffs and cups not sign long term to start a rebuild so that is very risky. their prospect are overhyped cuz its edm but Olivier Rodrigue has been under 0.900 in the last two ahl season and Lavoie had an ok ahl season last year nothing too impressive.
so imo you are basically trading Kane retained for a late fist a 2025 third, a potential 3rd line center, a possible back up, and 2 months of puljujarvi plus risky contract situation even if he is an RFA. if I were a CHI fan I'd go quality over quantity on the Kane trade.
ChiHawk liked this.

1) This is a Sens fan that create this AGM
2) Toews at 50% retained has value and that's a horrible take...he is good defensively (the team as a whole is not but Toews is not the problem), and came off of a season after missing an entire year with long covid. The last 3rd of the season Toews was coming back into form. Try watching hockey instead of looking at a stat sheet.
