OTT not claiming him, they have too many Left shot LD, they really really need a RD

I’d prefer to see Mang at 1RW over Toffoli at this point

What about trading Valimaki to EDM for Janmark and playing him at 3LW?

I really don’t want Brett Ritchie in the lineup.

Finally, where is Michael Stone!? He should be in there too

1- I believe Sutter prefers Mang on the LW, also a long history with Toff he'll get a shot on the top line he's our 2x Stanley Cup champion

    2. I don't see a small pototes trade at this point, GMs are waiting to see if they can get Mackey or Valimaki for nothing at this point, I think Mackey is showing more potential at this point

    3. LOL, I can understand why but he is no longer on the top line with 23 and 13

    4. Stone still on a PTO, he will sign a lucrative AHL only contract and will be called upon to join the big club only after injuries or player moves

Love Sutter but he can be too stubborn and set in his ways sometimes. I’ve heard Sutter say he prefers Dube at LW, but never Mang.

I used to believe Mang & Coleman were better at RW and Toffoli would be better at LW, but now I believe Coleman is far better offensively at LW and Mang should be on the 1st line.

Toffoli could do well there but he might be just as effective as a PP Specialist and Playing on Line 3 with Backlund & Coleman. He has a good stick check and was effective Defensively against EDM/McDavid, so I’d make that line the Shut Down line, especially against the Oilers

I don’t see Rooney contributing much offensively at all, he’s a 4th line PK Specialist and Ritchie’s the one who should have an AHL contract. He’s simply taking a spot others deserve more, namely Michael Stone & Matthew Phillips. Let me put it another way, I'd rather have Jake Virtanen or Tyler Pitlick than Brett Ritchie

Swapping Valimaki for Janmark would gain us $300k in Cap Space and give us another depth LW/C. Might even be able to get a late pick thrown in or have a team pick up Janmark in which case we’d save $425k in cap space which is the same as losing Valimaki to waivers

    Mackey/Meloche >> Valimaki 🤫

There's an obvious hole at wing in the top 9, Rooney is likely the best choice to fill it in the interim.

This team is good enough for a playoff spot as-is, I think their best chance to contend is to grow cap space throughout the season as injuries may happen.

Possibly deal for Patrick Kane at the deadline

Until then use the value players at 3rd line wing,
there might be a carousel here, Rooney, Ruzicka, Zary, Pelletier... I don't think Phillips gets a realistic shot... unfortunately

Rooney should go to the fourth with Lucic and Lewis, ideally, Ritchie may just be Lucic insurance

I like the two top lines as above for starters, if Toffoli proves to be on the back 9 of his career he will fall into that third line role nicely. But if he is on pace for 25-30 goals I see that as a good fit.

With Valimaki now gone and Kylington out,

I think the flames value Mackey & Meloche the most, Michael stone is a great guy / family man and doesn't want to play anywhere but calgary.

If he signs a two way contract this week, he gets snapped up by another team when he gets sent down.

GMBT has a 14 year history with Stone and wants to reward him with a worthwhile AHL deal... He deserves better for sure, but the other two have more developmental upside and are worth protecting.

However, there could be room for Stone in the press box opening night, seeing as how Zahorna didn't work out.

I see them going with Mackey & Meloche as well OR 13 Forwards and 8 Defensemen, but if/when Kylington returns somebody will have to go. It would be ideal if they could trade Kylington for a better Top-9 Forward. I wanted Luke Kunin or Ivan Barbashev but I don’t think they’ll be made available.

I also wonder if they’ll hold off on signing Stone to an NHL contract till they absolutely need him, having him sign a generous AHL deal to begin with.
