TDL After Better Start

Created by: bluspy88
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 31, 2022
Published: Oct. 31, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The team has had a surprisingly decent start. I think most fans rightfully expect them to level off as the season goes on, but I've been pleasantly surprised by quite a few things. I'm just going to attempt some pretty conservative TDL moves that seem pretty obvious unless the Flyers somehow become an unstoppable juggernaut.
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Foegele, Warren
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
  3. 2024 5th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I think JVRs injury brings his price down a bit since he'll miss time to drive up his value, but of course if he plays very well in his return who knows.
EDM
  1. van Riemsdyk, James ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I read a Hockey Writers article about this idea, so its just an idea: not gospel. His prorated cap would only be 1.75 million, so I think the cap hit could work out? I'm not a cap scientist so don't crucify me. I think Foegle has to come back to make it work too, though it seems EDM fans here are ok with moving him? Would be curious to hear your thoughts on his play.
2.
PHI
  1. 2023 4th round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Braun, Justin
Additional Details:
This is really just to any playoff bound/contending team. He got a third last year, and since he's older I'd say he gets about a 4th now. Could also be retained but again Tampa is just to represent "Any playoff team".

I like the trade for Edmonton, frees up some cap next year and isn't an overpay.
JVR looks decent too, good 2nd/3rd pairing wing.

Yeah I think its a good move for them to try to win now but also help out going forward. They could maybe get a better pick back for taking on Foegle and if JVR is playing well but we know how crazy the values get leading up to the deadline.
