I don't see enough value for the jets. Two prospects that wouldn't be in the jets top 15 and an over paid winger plus a very late 1st round pick.

Where does PLD fit in to Montreal's lineup?

That's probably more than they'll get from anyone else since everyone knows PLD fully intends to test free agency next summer and most figure he'll wind up signing with Montreal anyhow. As for Montreal they have don't need to trade very much for him if they're going sign him as a UFA anyhow and no incentive to trade for him at all if they don't intend to sign him.

He'll probably wind up going to a top contender as a deadline rental with 50% retention for something like a late 1st and a 2nd/3rd or B+ prospect. Then he'll resign wherever he wants to in the summer. If Montreal's offer is competitive chances are he'll sign there.

Yeah that sucks for Jets but it's the brutal truth. Why do you think you got him from Columbus so cheaply in the first place?

So Andrew Copp was just traded last season as a pure rental for a 1st, 2nd and Barron. I don't get this talk that Dubois has no value. Hes better and under than Copp and even as a pure rental has very solid value.

They traded Laine and Roslovic for PLD and a 3rd. I don't know how you can consider that cheap?

A big physcial two way 1a/1b center is worth far more than an overrated overpaid soft fragile one dimensional offense only winger who is a defensive liability and not at all physical.

Roslovic? A 3rd/4th line center doesn't change things very much at all. The only reasons Columbus took him are 1. They wanted a center in return even if was just a bottom 6er. They needed a replacement center that badly. and 2. Roslovic is from Columbus.

PLD did put up 8 more points than Laine last season but he also played 25 more games. Last season was the first time he missed significant games do to injury. Yes Laine isn't good defensively but Laine has a higher gpg and ppg. Since coming into the league there are only 13 players with more goals than Laine and Roslovic did put up 22g last season.
