I do want to stress again, that Bunting is a 20 goal scorer 60 point player making a million. Why spend nearly 5 million for a guy to ride the coattails of our stars? We can find way better value than Garland.

Bunting is basically the product of Matthews and Marner thats it do not look into that. Put him on any other line he aint scoring 20 goals. Heck this year he got demoted

Away from those 2 Bunting is not great as we have been witnessing so far.

Garland meanwhile has produced with lesser guys and does not need to be on the first line to produce

So it really would not matter where he played as Garland is the better player. Bunting is mainly the product of Matthews and Marner. He has a good season last year but now seems to have come down to earth. Yes Garland aint a rat like Bunting but he would make up for it in other ways as he is the better player

Like rn from the way I have been watching him Bunting's probs gone in 2023. As if he wants 3-4mill yeah from what I have seen so far we can do better aka Garland. As in general Knies gonna probs take that spot in 2023 anyways

Garland gets top opportunity. Playing with guys like JT Miller, Petterson and Boeser at times. He doesn't play 3rd line and produce 60 points. But with Matthews and Marner he would score 60+ sure. So would a pile of guys and it's not hard to find a guy who is making way less that can produce as well. The Leafs have no need for a small forward.

Are you expecting me to say that Miller, Pettersson, and Boeser are same caliber players as Matthews?

But his ice time is that of a 3rd line player, yet he still produces. He just doesn't get much oppertunity on the powerplay which happens to be one of our few strengths
