McDonagh - Trouba

Description
There have been plenty of rumors of Trouba to the Rangers, and the Jets have made it clear that they would want a young, cost controlled LD in return.

The Jets would get the best player in this deal, and also an upgrade in goal. Staal has lost a step, but he's probably still an upgrade over Enstrom.

In return, the Rangers get the young, top pair RD they've needed, a pretty good prospect, a replacement backup G, and an equally egregious but slightly shorter cap hit for a Dman that no longer fits into the team's plans.

Not taking into account anything else that will happen this offseason (Losing a player to Vegas, trying to move Klein and use the cap savings to sign B. Smith) aside from the obvious RFA signings.

Wondering if this evens out.

Wrong on two accounts:

1. Jets get the best player in the deal.
2. Staal is an upgrade over Enstrom.

No deal.

Where is no reason for roslovic to be in this deal. Also I'm the biggest Trouba fan but McDonagh is better right now with trouba being younger and under team control longer he has the most value in the deal.. Enstrom is better than stall and has way less money owning Staal's contact to take on a team would need a 1st round pick at the minimum. So you would have to drop Roslovic and add more on the ranger side. Like serious Staal has almost 17mil more on his contract. Its terrible. redw1n9s is right No Deal.

I'd rather have a young top RH in Trouba than a LHD in McD any day of the week. Plus the Rangers may be filling that #1 on the right side, but there is now the same problem on the left...don't make no sense.

You said Jets weren't getting the best player then would be just not the most valuable. There is a difference that needs to be made.

Marc Staal is grossly overpaid for the next 4 years making $5.7 million per why would Winnipeg be the least interested in an overpaid Staal.

Best player= Performance on ice. Where contract and age means nothing.
Player with most value= performance on ice, contract, potential and age

Can use Skjei as 1 LHD
Smith as 2 LHD...
Hence McD isn't as awful a replacement as it'd seem and a top RHD is a lot harder to find then a top LHD...
Graves can be 3rd LHD and that can be a very solid left side for years.
Trouba, sign shatty and have Beregzelov/Pionk fight for the last RHD spot and it's a younger better D.
Question is would Trouba sign in ny long term?
