There's absolutely nothing in that trade that would even get you close to Hutton.

Not trying to be mean here, but Soshkinov is a bottom 6 fwd. Leivo is also a bottom 6. Between the two of them, one might turn out to be a top 9 guy. The 2nd round pick is late in the 2nd. Hutton is a 24 year old shutdown top 4 dman, under cheap team control for the next 3 (Maybe more?) year. Not saying that Soshkinov and Leivo are trash, but every organization has a number of Leivo/Soshkinov types. Everyone wants a Hutton.

This is coming from a die-hard leafs fan.

You're right with the trade not being close, but Leivo would be a fine top 6/9 player. He's a good scoring winger, who is excellent on the powerplay. I think whoever winds up with Leivo has an excellent player, who can play anywhere in the lineup. He's got tremendous skill and an excellent shot. Soshnikov is highly over-rated. People just remember his first goal and expect that every time he touches the puck. In reality, he's a fringe NHLer at best. He's okay on the 4th line, but he's not likely ever going to give you more than 10 goals a year. His career scoring in the AHL is about the same as Rich Clune. Not exactly someone I'd project to have a long NHL career.

Who do we have on our roster who is so crucial that we must give Vegas a 2nd-round pick to take Marincin and Marchenko? The good players will be protected. The bad ones unprotected. No need to throw our picks around as well.
