I think it’s a touch off from what the Canucks want if they trade Horvat. Miller and Gurianov would hold no value since if they trade Bo, it’ll signal a retool. But if you maybe switch out Stankoven with someone like Dellandrea, Johnston, or Harley, it’ll be closer in value.

DAL won't mess with their young guys on cheap contracts who are contributing so much. And Colin Miller provides good depth for the Canucks on the right side.

Not saying the value is awful, I just can't see Dallas pulling the trigger on this.

With Hintz locking up his big contract ($8.45M per year), I can't see Dallas committing over $8M to another player. At least not with guys like Benn, Seguin, Heiskanen, and Robertson also already on some pretty significant contracts. Cap is already kind of tight this offseason and Dallas has to either re-sign or replace 6 roster spots (7 in this scenario with Schenn being added).

Dallas is going to need contribution from players on ELC's for the next few years in order to maintain competitiveness while also not crippling their cap space. High end prospects like Stankoven are going to be monumental for Dallas over the next 2-3 years because he can score and he's going to be extremely affordable.

Again, the value isn't awful but Dallas isn't the team to pull off a move of this magnitude that is going to cost as much money as it's going to cost next season (and beyond). Not with someone like Stankoven going the other way.

It's a big price, but Horvat is a pure rental.

Not saying the value is wrong but there's no way Dallas trades Stankoven for a pure rental.

Looking at the way Johnston and Dellandrea are progressing, I think that any upgrade must be done at the D position.

A D like Zub (if the Sens cannot sign him) should be on top of the priority list.
