Very bold to assume that Killorn will take a massive pay cut for 3 years when the cap should be rising more and potentially Stamkos may take a bit of a cut the following season.

Just noticed the raise you gave Elliott, Killorn probably doesn't stick around after they offer him less than the back up. 1m for Elliott and 3m for Killorn on a 1 year or 8 year deal is much more reasonable.

Does Killorn take a discount to stay ? Yes I believe his comments in the past "I want to retire a bolt" makes it pretty a easy assumption. He isn't however taking THAT big a discount. Why on Earth are you paying Elliot that much? Colton comes in around the Paul AAV.

Corrected the Elliott error. Killorn is a fluid situation, all depends on where the cap goes

Let's assume Killorn, being 34 next off-season and on pace for 68pts this season, has the potential to get a 20-24m contract on a 4-6 year deal on the open market. He wants to stay in TB and retire there, so he's willing to take a discount.

You're offering 2.5mx2 = 5m to a 34 yo. 1) There's no financial security in that contract and 2) he might not get his wish of retiring in TB so he leaves money on the table for nothing. At 2.5m, he probably needs at least a 6-year deal if not an 8-year deal to stay. He'll be 40-42 but a 2.5m contract is probably not going to cost much, he might want an NMC but it would be foolish to grant him anything more than a full NTC. 2.5m is going to be an insignificant amount in terms of cap hit anyways, so giving him term won't be a detriment.

It’s hard to tell how long Killer wants to play. Not everyone wants to be Cory Perry. I would give him 4 @ $2.5 but that takes him to 37 and as we’ve seen productivity declines with age. Also, looking to the future, Hagel, Perbix, Stamkos & Hedman coming up soon. Need to manage the Cap 2 to 3 years out.
