Why would Washington consider this? They already have two good centers at cheaper rates than Miller, and they won't have any space for Miller's extension, especially not with Backstrom returning. I can't see Washington even considering giving up a top 6 forward, a great RD prospect, and a 2nd for someone they can't even realistically keep.

Yeah, for a center, his defense is noticeably lacking. I think Vancouver could do a lot better if they kept him at wing (unless they need him on faceoffs, which in that case have him take faceoffs and then have him and the winger switch positions during play)
