Also why would most of the other teams do these. Stutzle for Karlsson and a draft pick and a spare part?

1 : this is not what Ottawa needs to do. I also would never give as much for a goalie. Forsberg is pretty good in his own way, he had the 9th best GSAA/60 last season. Ottawa needs new ownership, management and coaching, then improve the RD side and rebuild the bottom-6 after Dorion destroyed it.

2 : It would be a mistake to trade 20 y/o Stutzle and also the Sharks would be better by trading both players separately and get more assets

Hertl is going to be good for a while, his game is not based on speed so as he ages and loses a step he won’t diminish as rapidly. see him being a top 6 C for the next 6-7 seasons and why i am happy he resigned that 8 year deal.

Yeah but Karlsson is still a huge risk, even at 8 M$. He will be 33 y/o next season and who knows how past and future injuries could affect him?

Hertl might still be good for years but Stutzle is still 20 y/o and has a 8 year contract starting next season. For the Sens at this point in time, making that trade is great for immediate future but long term I don't know

If they were very close to make noise in the playoffs, then I would see it differently

I want to see the team sold, then new management and coaching and go from there. No drastic changes until that happen.
