I think thats incorrect, what show did you hear this on, it should be and always has been that signing bonuses are paid out in full on July 1. It is actually written into their contracts that that is when they will get it paid, its rather then or the start of free agency (the new year of the contract). Not giving it to them then would be breach of contract. I get that he doesnt have a super amount of value, but a team would pay for him at half retained and a club would gladly take him to get themselves above the floor
