I very much like the Hawks and if Kaner wants to extend...I'm open to it. I just also want to see him play meaningful hockey. I want that not just for him, but I'd enjoy it too.

I just want whatever makes him happy. If he is happy to remain a Hawk and hopefully compete again in a few years, great. But, if he wants to play meaningful hockey NOW after 7 years of mediocrity, I would support him signing elsewhere. No matter what Toews and Kane decide to do over the summer, I hope they ask for trades before the TDL. Even if they do want to re-sign with CHI in the summer, TDL trades would only give CHI more assets, possibly helping to speed up the rebuild.
