Kings move Sean Walker to a team that values versatile veteran blueliners in exchange for a much needed #2 goalie in Raanta. Canes need to make room for Freddie Anderson coming off injury and it really looks like Kochetkov-Andersen is the duo they will roll with for the rest of they year; making Raanta expendable. Canes need a RHD for the 3rd pair that can also play up when needed and Walker is definitely that guy. He is just in a major roster crunch in LA much like the Canes in net.

Both teams can manage this under the cap now and going forward.

This could be something the Canes would consider at the deadline, but not right now. First we are not sure how long Andersen will be out, Second, I think the Canes would be more content to keep 3 goalies for emergency reasons. Also, Chatfield is playing well, and the Canes would need to move Coghlan

As for value, I would say the value is about right.

I see the urgency coming from the Kings to do this right now moreso than the Canes. Columbus could also offer a backup to them Korpisalo but his value isn't as high as Raanta's IMO. They would definitely love to have Walker too; but probably need to add more to the trade for the Kings.

Reimer in San Jose and Varlamov in Long Island have to also be in the mix for top trade targets for backups; although Stalock has had a good showing in Chicago and increased his stock well. Maybe LA moves Cal Petersen and a future asset to them to dump salary and give him a fresh start.
