Buch to canes
Cane accept but blues wouldn’t. I think the canes would come closer if they offered morrow and either KK, Ponomarve, or Drury dropping the 1st and changing it to the flyers 2nd

Canes Top 6 Upgrade
Buch has another year on his contract at 5.8 million. Necas, while I like him, is going to command 7 to 8 million and that will be in arbitration he will be awarded around 6 to 7 million and the following year he will demand 8 to 10 million. Buch on the other hand will have a salary 4.2 million there about and won’t command as much on an extension giving the canes more flexibility with the cap.
What I don’t like about the deal is Lindholm, the Canes don’t want him back. He and Rod never got along and he will not work in the Brind’Amour system

Drop the 2024 1st to a 3rd and I think the Canes would jump on it. They are going to spend their 1st on a bigger fish like Buchnavich

I disagree, the canes being in a win now mode, this trade make sense. I’d rather offer a 1st, 2025 3rd and a prospect like morrow.

you're asking way too much in this trade. Necas and a 1st for Buchnevich would be as high as the Canes would go. And Nikishin is untouchable at this time.

I would agree this is a pretty even trade. Love Necas’s speed , but he forces things way too much. Plus we have Buch for another year

Out of the question. Drop Drury and add Morrow and it would still work

I think the Canes would be more comfortable with the 2nd being conditional such as if they win the cup it’s the Flyers second, otherwise it’s a 2025 2nd
Or instead of the 1st it will be both seconds.
Something like that.

Canes Jackets now vs future
Morrow has been a star at UMass for the past two years, recording 64 points in 72 games. A 2022 Hockey East champion, Morrow would be most teams’ top defensive prospect, but there’s no need to rush him any higher than college right now. A strong transitional blueliner, Morrow plays a game built around confidence – something apparent after jumping straight from the high-school ranks in 2021 to full-time, top-pairing college action a year later. The Hurricanes have a solid blueline, but expect turnover the next few years – and Morrow will be ready to capitalize.
The latest scouting report for Morrow he is the Canes #2 Prospect.
