Simple, one for one. Necas is younger by around three years, an RFA-to-be, and has all the skill in the world to be worth it to a re-tooling Blues team. Brind'Amour gets a player more to his liking for this year and next, at least, and is a bit of a better goal scorer than Necas.

Way too much for Buchnevich. Canes will give up futures, not roster players.

I disagree, the canes being in a win now mode, this trade make sense. I’d rather offer a 1st, 2025 3rd and a prospect like morrow.

I just think the Blues would prefer to get a player like Necas in his mid-20's. A late 1st is OK, Morrow would probably be appreciated, Parayko and Faulk aren't getting any younger, but I would see them going for the more immediate impact.

Plus, c'mon.... a good old fashioned "hockey trade" grin

Besides, if the 'Canes are in win now mode, then wouldn't you want to keep a guy like Morrow to replace the aging Burns and the younger but seemingly-destined-to-leave Pesce, plus a 1st rounder that could become a valuable 3rd liner, or 4th or 5th D (on the way to 3rd?) in 3-4 years? Re-tooling on the fly is an important part of maintaining Cup competitiveness, as per the Lightning.. sometimes that re-tool on the fly can involve internal pieces like Morrow!
