23-24 without trades

Created by: Kyriakos_Grizzly

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 23, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here are some players I think the Ducks should target in the UFA market. What do you think about the RFA signings? Drysdale got a medium length contract and is still a RFA after it.

Ducks needs to get better defensively and Gavrikov is a huge help. Kuzmenko is still young. Him on the 1st line with Zegras and Terry could be nasty. I expect a lot of rotation between Vaakanainen, White and Benoit on that 3rd pair.

Cap situation is much more "tight" after signing the big guys, but there are couple big contracts expiring after this season: Henrique and Silfverberg.

The Ducks need toughness. Losing Deslauriers was a bad move because he was there to defend the kids. With all that skill you need someone like him.

I love toughness but that isn’t the correct take

We need some more physicality is more like it

Totally agree. You don't just need a punching bag out there you just need someone who can answer the bell but also plays in the corners and stops on pucks. Schenn is a perfect example for Vancouver and I know people don't like him but Trouba for New York.

We got a couple guys like Comtois and Benoit who can do that right now

I’d love a Jeannot addition somehow too

I was actually thinking about Luke Schenn too, but would he be willing to come to Anaheim🤔

I think Schenn gets traded in two scenarios. A sweetener in a Horvat trade, or as a stand alone piece for a younger player like Cal Foote. Other than that I'd rather see us re-sign Schenn because he's been our most consistent and physical d-man and has said he wants to stay in Vancouver.

As a goalie myself, that top line makes me feel bad for other goalies. I desperately want to win the Kuzmenko auction, he's the hang around the net and get the dirty goals guy that top line needs.

Theres going to be loads of top talent this off-season, but the next off-season is barren with top talent at LW, we need to buy this year and Kuzo is the right age.

I think Drysdale is going to get shafted on his extension, he'll get a cheap bridge. I'd resign Stolarz for a year and leave Dostal as the starter in San Diego for one more year. Yeah, he is ready, but Gibson is still going to start 50 games, and the defense is going to need time to gel, he is still waivers exempt, let him play 40-50 in the A and be the injury call up for one more season.

We need to go buy two top 4 D defensive stalwarts this off-season, one for Fowler and one for Drysdale. I'd also love to give Graves a look, but Garikov could also be a solid choice. Need someone on the right who can take top pairing for another season or two, we can sunset him and Fowler to 2nd pair when Drysdale is good to go.
