Bruins w Zacha - Read Description

Created by: Woody
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2023
Published: Jan. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don Sweeney will make it so the performance bonuses are paid in the cap this year. By playing around with contracts he's actually able to have that 4.6 or so count as this year and not take cap next year. Something most people aren't realizing.

they dont have the cap space for the bonuses to be paid this year though, there is no way they can accrue that much space prior to the end of the regular season
He would have to get Smith and Reilly off the books to make that work. Currently they are using LTIR, they arent accruing any cap space

cap space is calculated daily, so they have to not add at the TDL and move out those 2 contracts to have a fighting chance

That is a pipe dream. With only half a season remaining and few pieces to maneuver to recapture cap space it’s just not a thing.

He was able to “send players down” on off days that were waiver exempt in the past. He does not have that luxury now.

Even moving Smith and Reilly today taking nothing back would only save about 1m in actual cap space.

You are living in a fantasy world.

So you're still over the cap here, You've to set aside the 4.5 to 4.6m for both Bergeron and Krejci's performance bonuses with this years salary cap.

Either way you look at it, Boston is going to be vastly screwed on their salary cap.
