Pretty sure Marchand's comment had more to do with Trent being left out of the projected top 9, idk though

Keep the giraffe. Boston can’t take on cap next year. They have to move some out as it is.

I feel like if a JP trade is in the works it will be something like smith 1 for 1

That does absolutely nothing for both teams. They have the same cap hit and both are on expiring contracts. Neither would be re-signed.

I don’t see anything in the works. Just the internet overreacting to a silly tweet.

That’s the risk you take both players have little value and both teams are hoping that the player they acquire performs better in a new system. Bruins don’t have the cap to just move picks for him and they aren’t retaining on Reilly when they can just buy him out next year for cheaper.

The only way I could see a deal if there is one in the works is cap for cap struggling player for struggling player. It’s not like these type of trades or new or uncommon in the league they happen quite often

Where does he even fit? Everyone healthy he does not crack the top 9 and his game foes not work on 4th at all.

I don’t see them having any interest. And neither team has the ability to make this trade and gain cap space which is what both need.

The only saving grace is Boston could likely flip him for a late pick to a rebuilding team. They can’t with Smith. But EDM can do that on their own.

Well with debrusk currently still injured and probably still gonna miss another 8-12 games I’d gladly try JP out on either the 1st or 3rd line.

If he doesn’t work out their or doesn’t outperform freddy then play him 4th line, he’s physical, fast and good defensively. He’d be one of the more skilled 4th liners out there.

Quite frankly though I see JP breaking out in a different system, Him and Edmonton haven’t been a match from the start, the amount of drama and trade rumours that surrounded him there after his rookie season I could see him not really caring how he does there he’s on the way out anyways
