The rest of SJ is pretty terrible. A team full of grinders, role-players, and underperforming vets. Meier+EK make up the majority of SJ's offense. NYI's top forward core is already much better, mainly because of Barzal. Meier + Barzal would be sick. And your D core is more stay-at-home so I think EK would make sense as long as he's given a lot of ice time. He doesn't seem to do well when there are other offensive defensemen on the team (i.e. burns)

You just described the isles forwards. The islanders are also removing their franchise defenseman (Dobson) in this trade so my point stands. Isles D isn’t stay at home , more of a two way skillset. The forwards are the worst in the league , by far. Meier won’t change that significantly.

Dobson is by no means a "franchise defenseman", and you're nuts if you think he is.

He has top 10 D potential and he’s already a top 25-30D at 23 YO.

that is a hilariously optimistic assessment of noah dobson, a guy who is negative value defensively, and cannot QB a powerplay effectively.

can't QB a PP effectively, yet was among the leaders in PP points by defenseman last season - cmon buddy its so easy to just look this up.
