This is an unusual scenario where it doesn’t really help either team.

If I’m Detroit, I can’t afford to just be shipping out our top scoring RHD for a Winger, even if it’s an elite one like Timo. The way Hronek is playing, one could argue the trade should be a 1 for 1 swap, but that’s obviously not going to happen.

We’ve got the pieces to get Timo without giving up Hronek.

I also believe that if we do acquire him, we’ve gotta have a winger or two going out. It just doesn’t make sense to load up on wingers or any position for that matter when we’re playing ourselves into the lottery. Acquiring Timo would be a move with eyes on the future and corresponding personnel moves would be required, now.

Dude, Hronek is a top pairing defenceman on a great contract at 25 years old and he's on track for 56 points this year. Veleno, McIsaad, and Zadina don't have much value individually but together they have decent value.

I realize I'm a Wings fan, but taking into account the cap, Hronek at $4.4M through next year might have more value than Timo as a rental at ~$6M. Especially when you consider his qualifying offer is $10M.

Hronek is a good player but 25 is too old for the rebuild their headed in. Zadina is a flat out bust, McIsaac and Veleno are alright pieces but not the A-B level prospects reported. Not to mention the very basis of a Meier trade is a '23 first. It's common sense by now. Two 2nds does not do the trick. It is not enough and Mike you don't have a right to say I don't know anything about hockey when everyone clearly is saying this is not the right trade or term/salary. Why single me out?
