This is an unusual scenario where it doesn’t really help either team.
If I’m Detroit, I can’t afford to just be shipping out our top scoring RHD for a Winger, even if it’s an elite one like Timo. The way Hronek is playing, one could argue the trade should be a 1 for 1 swap, but that’s obviously not going to happen.
We’ve got the pieces to get Timo without giving up Hronek.
I also believe that if we do acquire him, we’ve gotta have a winger or two going out. It just doesn’t make sense to load up on wingers or any position for that matter when we’re playing ourselves into the lottery. Acquiring Timo would be a move with eyes on the future and corresponding personnel moves would be required, now.
