Lou adding Meier after acquiring Horvat. Now that would be something.

On the short sided look that’s a strong team, but at a steep cost. doubt you guys dip into the forward market anymore. especially what it makes it difficult to resign both Horvat and Meier and depletes your picks for the next 2 years.

Is Mayfield a huge upgrade on Holl? Not really.

With how he has been drafting and with the amount of cap EXACTLY we will have at the deadline minus mayfield it makes too much sense. Mayfield has played himself out of a contract and if Chariot can get a 1st and a 4th a better right hander at minimum can warrant the package above. A tidy piece of business IF this can get done. 90% chance of a cup in the next 3 years max idk about this year that’s a lot of change in the top 6 especially with barzy who is looking very good but completely uncomfortable at wing for now but that will change by next year. As well as a second line who can all score 30 and a third line who can all score 20 except Holmstrom who will eventually, cup team and for years to come.

Lou is going for it. I don't think he'll succeed. But I admire his Moxy.

8 year deals that start and end at the same time for the whole top line and Timo being same age same draft as barzal on pace leading the league for shots on net. I make this trade 7 days a week and 5 times on Sunday. Is it a massive overpay? Yes but because we have to compete with Carolina who has better prospects and NJ who has a top 5 prospect pool we have to in draft capital sucks but for what we would get I’m willing to do so. Moving forward win the cup or not our firsts are untouchable competitive rebuild 🤞🏼🤞🏼

That's why I didn't mind the 8 year contract for Horvat. He's 27 years old so the Isles will get a ton of value for that contract in my opinion. You never really know when a player's play will fall off a cliff. It's a calculated gamble.

And he’s hitting his prime this year he resigned without playing a single game. Quite the difference from the last time we made a trade like this vanek lasted 18 games with a 1st second moulson and then had to add a 4th to move him to Montreal because he refused to resign lmaooo it’s a good week to be an islanders fan smile

I remember that. Isles had to eat a warm sandwich with Vanek. It happens to all teams eventually.

I remember when Detroit traded a young Adam Oates for a washed up Bernie Federko. Good times. 🤮

Federko played 1 season in Detroit and then retired. 🤭

Oates went on to form one of the deadliest scoring combos in NHL history with some guy named Brett Hull.

Oops. 💩

I could see a guy Like labanc (he would be cheap to aquire and is a solid middle 6 albeit overpaid) or Barabanov, But not Meier unless you guys thing this is your year to win the cup.
But this team doesn't appear to be all in this year as your more set up for a window.

Boston I could see going all in this year with both their top 2 centers being 35+

I would’ve considered labanc but the extra year of term makes that pretty much impossible.

I agree, he has a lot of talent but hasn’t been able to string it together consistently. Barabanov would be a better fit but i really like him in SJ and he for sure would be work significantly more than Labanc
