Description
We all know Kyle likes making multiple deals at a time with the same team..

Chychrun is what you want Sandin or Niemelä to become. That works for Arizona taking the chance on one of them passing him eventually, but Toronto needs that player now, not in 3-5 years. Also getting him moves Rielly - Lilly down to being the 2nd pair at reduced minutes and matchups so they can excel more.

Crouse is what you hope Voit, Lisowsky, or Robertson can become in terms of LW production. The same situation where it works for Arizona to take the cheaper young player hoping they excel further and for Toronto to take the player who is ready now.

A player like Kerfoot who can move around the lineup and play any position is another thing Arizona would like for their system and rebuild, whereas Bjugstad gives Toronto more of what they need now.

McBain is what Toronto wants from ZAR. ZAR is more experienced to help the younger players in Arizona.

Then the two firsts because Crowse and Chychrun are the much bigger names in the trade so it gives Arizona a chance to draft a replacement and gives Toronto what they hope they could draft with those 1sts now. 3rd is for retention.

ZAR, Kerfoot, Lisowsky, Robertson collectively have negative value to ARZ. So say OTT 2023 3rd is a slightr underpayment.

Then its 2 1sts, Sandin , Voit and Niemala for Chyrchrun AND Crouse probably is the slight overpayment to make up for the first bit and an intriguing offer, (although ARZ would have to possess Leaf fans hopes on Voit, Sandin and Niemala).

And then ARZ just throw in Bjustad and McBain, who the way theyre playing, probably have ample TDL value on their own?

The second part is a really good, competitive offer, if you take out the chaff, Chychrun and Crouse for 2 1sts and 3 prospects.

I mean yes, but did they mention Crouse and McBain? I know they talked about Chyrchrun.

How do Robertson and Lisowsky have negative values? I can see an argument between ZAR and Kerfoot even though I disagree with it. But how is an 18-year-old prospect that doesn't take up an NHL slot right now and Robertson possibly have negative value...

Collectively those guys have negative value to ARZ:

ZAR is an old lge minimum, 4th liner, expiring UFA with no value, other than taking on a contract, but what does ARZ get from 20 some games of ZAR?
Kerfoot is a 3.5 expiring UFA, playing rather average, that is included to make the cap work FOR Toronto
Lisopwsky is a 7th round draft choice, 218th, so how does he have any value, ARZ would have had 7-8 chances to draft him last yr and didn;t.
Robertson does havesome value, but not sure what it is. A high in the round 3rd maybe? Hes a small offensive player whos just had a second year where he didnt produce, often a healthy scratch, and suffered yet another injury, (his 4th or 5th medium-large injury in his career). So I'm unsure his value is what his draft position was.

So collectively those 4 offer nothing to the deal, so why would ARZ want them, so how do they have POSITIVE value? Even Lisowsky and Robertson alone have negligible value so I dont think they offset the other negative pieces, when ARZ is adding value to the deal.

Again this is a case of Leaf fans just throwing stuff in, disguised as value, with little thought that there are TWO parties involved in the negotiations.
