McDonagh likely doesn't waive for Buffalo. Ekholm gets moved before he does, even though both will probably stay.

This package isn't enticing enough anyway.

Wish I knew. Poile is a very stubborn man. all of the rumours that have been going around about Fabbro and Ekholm are all just your average rumours.
There's no real incentive that any of them are being traded. Poile likely hangs on in a stubborn attempt to make the playoffs, he's not one to really sell.

You traded philipe Myers and someone named Grant mismash for him like 10 mins ago. This is a plug and play college defensmeen and a top 40 pick

Tampa desperately needed to get rid of him. The trade was made in desperation for cap space.

I'm just going by how Poile makes his trades. He's a key part of our top 4 and will likely finish his current contract in Nashville.
We have two other defenseman who would more likely be traded.
This package doesn't get you Ekholm.
For Fabbro, probably.

I would do this in a heartbeat if he would waive to go to buffalo. I thought trading for him was a mistake at the time and would handcuff us with his cap hit and he’s done exactly that. Ekholm wouldn’t be available at all if we didn’t trade for him and I think Ekholm is better. Another Poile blunder to put on his list of late

Thanks, think he could be a fit. Seems like a good skater with a decent outlet pass. Think with Buffalo we need D that can skate with good edge work. Can't say are D system is very oriented towards Defense. Fast break team and your D need to be able to keep up. In 2yrs with the Forwards already in Buffalo and the prospects about to hit the system Buffalo is gonna be able to throw 4 lines of Speed, forecheck and scoring at teams. Defense needs to be mobile. Fabbro would fit IMO!!

Meh. Wouldn't make us any different. If anything, we'd be worse.

Poile is a bad GM, yeah...
But McDonagh has won cups. IF Poile ever did want to sell, McDonagh could be a good mentor for our younger players. We could move out guys like Ekholm, Fabbro, Nino, and have a nice re-tool for next season.

If McDonagh would waive for BUF, this should be accepted by NSH. McDonagh would be an excellent fit for a young BUF team on the rise.

Ekholm could be a player that could be a good mentor. A home grown player that deserves to retire here but instead we’re gonna be forced to trade him because we traded for McDonough. Poile has to go or were gonna be mediocre until he does.

Yep. He slides up the lineup for any injury to dahlin/samuelsson/power/jokiharju and stabilizes the 3rd pair so we don't have 4 d playing over 22 mins a night
