TDL 2023 haters will hate

Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 4, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Acciari, Noel
  2. Barbashev, Ivan
Additional Details:
There is no doubt the Jets will be looking to add a top 9 forward, but I don't see the need to go big fish hunting. Barbashev is a perfect fit. Can score, he hits, and can play up the lineup. In a 3rd line role, adds offensive punch to a line that has lacked it for a few years. Above that..... he can play centre if needed.

Further, as good as Stenlund has been, upgrading the 4th line is necessary. Enter Acciari..... again, he hits, he wins faceoffs, and has some offensive pop for a guy playing 12 minutes a game.

I don't see moving a 2024 1st as an overpay for the pair..... Barbashev alone would fetch a 2nd, and I have to think Acciari would land a 3rd. Gustafsson I still think has upside.to his game, but that isn't going to be realized in Winnipeg. It is necessary for the Jets to move a body as well; but I can see the Blues actually using him in a 4th line role as that roster gets a remodel.
STL
  1. Gustafsson, David
  2. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
2.
WPG
  1. Motte, Tyler
Additional Details:
Rounding out the 4th unit here, Motte's defensive game is excellent and a clear upgrade over Kuhlman and Jonsonn-Fjälby (who have been good but....)

In Jonsson-Fjällby, the Sens get a contract controlled bottom 6 forward with some upside yet. Sort of move the cash crunched Sens probably make at this point.

I like the Blues deal, that's 2/3 of their 3rd line and I think both would be an upgrade over Barron and Appleton sliding them down to the 4th and making that stronger. I doubt the Jets would move a 24 1st with the offseason uncertainty. Most likely the 23 1st would be in play.

I dont think the Motte deal would be necessary if the Blues deal was a reality.

I would sooner move the 2024 1st over the 2023 given the depth of the draft. Given where the Jets are, I can see Chevy getting aggressive (Statsny and Hayes additions). And in Part two, I did extend Barbashev.

Motte may not be necessary, but I see him as a pretty significant upgrade on both Kuhlman and Jonsonn-Fjällby. Great defensive game and far more physical. Really depends on your comfort level with that pair.

I just look at a 3rd now that can forecheck, hit and score. Would be nasty to play against. A 4th line that can hit and defend with a tough of offense.

Glad you like the Blues deal...... I really think that fit is fantastic given where the Jets ate right now
