Hypothetical here.
But what if MTL RS of 50% then SJS rs of 50%?
How much more is that worth to NJD?

It would give you 4m cap to acquire a full 23 man roster and a 7th Defensman for your rotation.
It would also buy MTL favor in a Karlsson deal

SJ would accept.
though I would prefer Holtz mukh and your 23 1st for Meier 50% retained.
Both deals are close in value but i like mukh ability to play LD or RD

The hope is that Hughes can jump right in and Smith would be the 7th defenseman. I'm sure SJ would also take back AJ if he helped get the deal done. Regardless, cap shouldn't be much of an issue in a Meier to NJ deal.
