Description
I'm just messing around with what I think could be plausible but not guaranteed moves in the offseason. I also included trades I expect to happen at this TDL. I did not include any sort of high draft pick player in the lineup in 2023 as I have no idea where they will land in the lottery.

I signed York pretty long term. Assuming he keeps playing like he has been I think it'd be worth it. Money may vary. I also assumed that Couturier WOULD return since they have said he'll play in 2023, but Atkinson will be on IR at least to start the season since they've been more vague with him. I brought in some very cheap veteran guys to be camp competition/plugs if those guys don't break through at the start of camp, especially on D. I also brought Andrae over but think he starts in the AHL and brought over Gauthier since he's basically commented he's going pro after this year. The final roster reflects players I expect to be in training camp with their statuses, very roughly arranged by what I see as their place on the depth chart as of right now. Those bottom guys and the prospects will battle for spots.

  1. 2024 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
I have no idea if there will be more to this. This is just a very rough idea of what they could get back.
WPG
For JVR retained. Possibly is less I have no idea but using the 2nd as a reference point. Just chose WPG because Friedman mentioned in with JVR, but could be any contender.

    PHI
    1. 2023 7th round pick (EDM)
    EDM

      1. MacEwen, Zack [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
No idea if he actually gets moved but if he does I could see one of the Alberta teams getting him
      4.
      PHI
      1. Greenway, Jordan
      2. 2024 3rd round pick (MIN)
      MIN
      1. Hayes, Kevin ($2,142,857 retained)
      2. 2024 6th round pick (PHI)
      Additional Details:
I know that Hayes has been ridiculed a lot. I am just trying this trade idea based on the fact that reputable reporters like Friedman and some Philly based guys have said there is interest in retained Hayes, and Minnesota was suggested specifically. I have absolutely no idea what the return would be exactly. I think Greenway would be part of it since he's been rumored to be on the move, seems like a player the Flyers would like, plus just the need for cap space. Please don't read too much into the picks. I really don't know what would be what. Also, MIN fans please comment on any other ideas for cap space beyond Greenway I may have missed since I know 24 is rough.
      5.
      PHI
      1. Dillon, Brenden
      2. Gustafsson, David
      3. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
      4. 2025 3rd round pick (WPG)
      WPG
      1. Provorov, Ivan
      Additional Details:
If he is moved (after his PR nightmare), it would be an offseason deal. I'm again just using WInnipeg because its been suggested by Friedman. I'd love to hear constructive feedback on what a realistic return would be IF Winnipeg traded for him, not whether they should.
      6.
      PHI
      1. Comtois, Maxime [RFA Rights]
      ANA
      1. Deangelo, Anthony
      Additional Details:
I'm sure there'd be more to this deal but here was my thought process: Comtois and DeAngelo have been struggling this year (and in Comtois' case, for a bit). Nearly all of Anaheim's defensemen are UFAs after 2023. They can move on from Comtois with a player who could hopefully help their pretty awful scoring issues at least a little, and then flip it. The Flyers get out of it and take a flier on Comtois. Probably some draft picks involved here but I won't speculate.

DeAngelo is a locker room cancer, bringing that into a young, impressionable team is a recipe for disaster.

Even if he wasn't, he's not the kind of RHD we need.

I don't disagree with you but it hasn't stopped him from being traded and signed by multiple NHL teams. Also, I would say that you need any D next year. The UFA pool is not great.

Yeah, I think we saw how that went this year with having very offensive defensemen paired with 3rd pairing shutdown D playing way above their heads. We've learned the lessons of John Klingberg. Well take our swing at Graves, Garikov, Mayfield, and Severson in FA.

I mean if you are implying that you should not have any offensive d-men then I just disagree with you. Klingberg is also more expensive and older than DeAngelo and expects to play higher minutes. Also, I highly, highly doubt that Anaheim is an attractive destination for those guys especially Graves and Severson with how NJ's season is going. Anaheim is a frequent appearance on NTCs for example. I don't mean that to insult, but they are having an awful season and seem to be still stuck in the rebuild rather than emerging like we thought coming out of last season. I feel like maybe you are taking this trade idea as an insult to the team, which I don't mean to do. But, you should probably temper your expectations a bit with those kind of targets.

I'm not taking the trade as an insult, I'm just stating that DeAngelo is not the kind of Defenseman this team needs, nor is he the kind of player we want in the locker room. We have Fowler and Drysdale, and while they're not the same level of offensive threat as TDA, they're also not defensive liabilities like he is, again, we saw how it happened with Klingberg this year trying to play with partners who can't cover his defensive mistakes.

Devil's don't keep Severson around next season, and likely don't want to pay Graves his UFA salary given the amount of defensive depth they have in their system. We still have the same advantages as last season with the cap most likely not moving much and we have a ton of cap space.
