Description

I'm trying to be somewhat realistic with what the Penguins can and will do. Obviously I'd love to move Carter and Dumoulin, but that isn't happening. I have Carter as a scratch here because that's the only way to get rid of his bad play. Dumo has been better lately, but I have to keep him in the lineup. Teddy Blueger was almost traded in the offseason, so I think they're willing to move him and the Jets could be a team interested in that. I could have some values off in the other trades, but I don't think any of them are super unrealistic. Overall, I think this is a big improvement of what the Penguins look like right now and could maybe get us a playoff push.

Taking on Kapenen is the retention in this deal, there wouldn't be more.

For what it's worth, I like this line up. But I don't think they will bring Puusty up unfortunately. I'm also not sold on Boeser becoming a Penguin. I think it would be good because you can push Rust down and help out the 3rd line. I think if they go after a decent 3rd line Center that's the best-case scenario.

Kapanen is a cap dump which means the 2nd is just for Van to take him. Boeser with over 2m retained easily gets a 1st plus more. Not close to enough for Van to even consider.
