Deadline Sellers - Fair Returns

Created by: julian719
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 20, 2023
Published: Feb. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Blueprints for deals. Anaheim used as placeholder.
Trades
1.
NYI
    2023 2nd Round Pick + Mid-Tier Prospect
    ANA
    1. Mayfield, Scott
    Additional Details:
If Isles retain 50%, Mayfield is a good top 4 shutdown option for contenders at $750k.
    2.
    NYI
2023 2nd Round Pick plus an expiring contract.
      ANA
      1. Varlamov, Semyon
      Additional Details:
If Islanders retain 50%, there may be some takers for a solid #2 goaltender for playoffs. Buffalo makes sense, but Varlamov reportedly would not waive his NTC last year for a trade there. I could see Toronto, Edmonton as other options.
      3.
      NYI
        Future Considerations.
        ANA
        1. Parise, Zach
        Additional Details:
Say what you want about Lou, but he is very loyal. Will do right by Parise. If he wants a chance to play for the cup, Lou will take whatever is offered to give Parise the opportunity. He's having a nice year, would be a great third line addition for teams.

Lou is loyal, it’s also the reason why the isles are screwed for the next 5 seasons at least

No doubt. Poor roster and cap construction - not looking good.

Mayfield is definitely worth a 1st+. Considering his quality and playoff experience combined with tight cap space for the top teams. Guys like Chiarot and Savard got a first plus more with cap hits of 3+ and mayfield retained at 50% is 700k. 1st plus is the bare minimum. However, lou being lou he'll probably sign him to an extension at the deadline instead haha

He looks at the bottom 6 as core players and builds around them - the game has passed him by. The league is getting younger and faster and he thinks prime age is late 20s, early 30s. The best thing that could happen is he gets fired at the end of the season, they retain the top 10 pick and blow up the country club that this team has become

Haven't loved his play recently - not a great audition for any scouts in the stands. I do think he could net a 1st, but I would still be OK with a 2nd and a prospect - right side is set with Pulock and Dobson. Would be crazy to give him $3-$4m AAV to be a bottom pair RHD

Yup. We are old and slow. Lou still trying to build a team for the mid-90s. Luckily his contract ends at the end of the season - my only fear now is his son takes over as GM and it's more of the same. Hell, Garth aint looking so bad right now - he sure made some bonehead moves, but this team is basically still players he drafted.

yeah Chris needs to be let go as well. The Isles need a forward thinking GM who prioritizes developing young players , it's the only way to succeed in todays nhl. Look at all the recent cup winners, they all prioritize development. Isles fans have been conditioned to think that the draft is a crapshoot and young players can't be trusted.

Prob need to figure out a way to move on from Zaitsev first. A top 6 of Chabot, Sanderson, Zub and Mayfield is not too shabby.

You Islanders fans are some of the most miserable fans on the face of the planet. Islanders will be fine... Lou has been the best GM the Islanders have had in 20 years and you miserable people still find a way to complain every day. It was just two years ago Islanders made back to back conference championships. Despite all the injuries they still hold a damn playoff spot lmao. You guys need to stop
