HORRID.

I want better odds at bedard, better odds at Celebrini, a top-15 pick, and long term flexibility.

I'd do that probably. It would be tough to stay cap compliant next year but Parayko is a guy you make room for.

Ottawa declines. Terrible contract. Regressed this season and likely will continue to since he's 30 in a few months.

Oof blues decline
The first pays for zaitzev
JBD alone doesn’t pay for Parakyo

He’s been fine imo, defensive numbers are good even.

If you can get assets for a guy on a contract like that esp when your team is on a decline, you gotta take it. This draft is deep af

I don't think you realize how long it's going to take us to fix the defense if we move Parayko without a guy who projects to be able to fill the void in the next 2-3 years or at least make a positive impact for 20+ a night. Maybe i'm underrating what JBD is but this certainly pushes us more towards the 5 year range to contention if we're lucky.

(Whispers) we’re already in the five year range to contention

I agree but id rather move faulk for this. trading parayko with no real replacement would be a very unwise thing to do imo.

Certainly a possibility. But definitely not a guarantee. Axing some of our coaching staff would probably really help our defensive issues. Consistency issues with Thomas/Kyrou will probably start to clear up in a year or two. We have a pretty good framework right now, and I don't think Binnington is as bad as his stats show. He's constantly hammered with high danger shots.

I just don’t see how we’re contending soon unless we win the bedard lottery. Are Kyrou and Thomas really the best players on a championship team? Especially when the rest of said team’s roster stinks?

They've pretty consistently been PPG players for this season and last. I think you can generally expect near that output. The thing that needs to happen is they need a bit more consistency which generally comes with time.

Schenn, Buchnevich and Saad are also pretty good players in their own rights. Neighbors looked pretty good before the injury last game, can reasonably expect him to be a solid 3rd liner at this point. We'd probably need another center to be extremely competitive, maybe two. Our depth has been decent to be honest with you. I don't think we're going to suck enough to really enter into sweepstakes for the next 2 years and if we get to that point it's going to be alot longer than a two year outlook of being horrible.

It's very rare that you're able to draft and build a very competitive defense without some foundations. Ours right now is a bit of a mismatched pile of goods but each player in our top 4 is a top 4 player. Parayko's probably a #2, Faulk #3/4, Leddy #4, Krug ES is a bit of a hard call but he's elite on the powerplay and there's certainly a benefit to having him. Armstrong really never has an issue adding in good cheap depth. Contending for the cup probably at minimum 3 seasons if we're lucky. But being a playoff team I don't think we're all that far off after next season, and that's typically the goal for the Blues

I don’t think it’s worth trying to scrap it together though. Like a true contender is better at every spot in the lineup. Seems like something that just needs a new start.

If you want a better shot at Bedard and a top 15 pick, then why the shoot-yourself-in-the-foot condition? That ridiculous condition is NOT happening.

So what this draft as deep as F? He's not getting a 23 1st here.

The chances of Ottawa picking 1 or 2 is so minuscule, heck they probably won’t even be in the lottery. It’s a top-15 pick.

Buddy, on pts% the Sens would fall into the 10th slot right now. And that's them fresh off a 7-2-1 run. It's gonna be a lottery pick. And then it's gonna be a 24 1st with a better team than they have now. This conditioned 1st and JBD is not good enough for Colt, let alone also taking the Zaitsev dump. If you want to trade Parayko, cool. Make a reasonable trade because now these dingles are gonna run around here talking 'bout "but Blues fans agreed to this fleecing!".

And overall, like I said, it would be far more wise to go find him a proper J-Bo partner than to trade him. Put him in a position to succeed, because we have not done that.

By lottery protected I meant protected if it’s 1st or 2nd, I can see how that was confusing.
