Schenn at best is a bottom pairing RD, He's not a top 4 RD.

And all indications are that Brock Boeser is probably heading home to Minnesota.

Now here's something interesting. The trade proposed with the Canucks is doable for both teams. Winnipeg has the long term cap room to fit in Brock Boeser and they could use big Luke Schenn for a long playoff run. He would be a good RW replacement when Wheeler retires. Pionk is a proven performer on defense, and Gustafsson is a potential, albeit a bit of a long shot. Fair value both ways.

I think that Arizona would like to shop that package being offered as those are two quality players, however not many teams can take on Schmaltz's term and cap hit, whereas Winnipeg could, especially when faced with losing P-LD via a trade this offseason. Since Winnipeg will get a decent haul for Dubois RFA rights, they might be able to sweeten the pot a little for AZ to get it done.

Good trade scenarios @Will

Schenn is exactly what you need in the playoffs, and Minnesota can't afford to pay for coffee next year let along Boeser's contract.

I wouldnt trade Pionk before playoffs, so I'd probably add to that VAN trade. And I'd sit Samberg/Stanley and play Schmidt-Schenn. Experience is huge in the playoffs.

Also would love Schmaltz, but am pretty wary of his injury history, considering we already have guys like Ehlers, Fetts (bummer news today) and Lucius who are prone to injuries. Not saying I wouldn't do this, but man it sucks losing guys on a consistent basis.
