Playoff push

Created by: MayDay19
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2023
Published: Feb. 24, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Wilson adds a lot of protection for a young highly skilled team along with some upside in his offensive game! Schenn adds a Dman who will actually throw a hit and has the strength to clear out the crease. Dakota Joshua, if you watch him, is a solid, tough kid that can skate and has some offensive skills. Edmundson is much older than joki but I think both teams win here, the habs need some future help and the sabs need some help right now.. long term the habs win that trade but I am shooting for the playoffs.

I think there’s a handful of teams who’d give a first for Wilson. I’d say you’re adding something like Portillo and Kisakov on top of that

I hear ya, but I think the team that gets Asplund will be buying low, he is a young Center that has produced, he has just been a victim of the numbers game since buffalo has so many centers. But if its a deal breaker I would throw in a 4th.

I wouldn't object to that.

He gives us exactly what we need, do you watch our team get physically beat on every game? Do you watch what players do to Dahlin on a regular basis? Did you watch him get smoked last night with a huge cross check in the back? Do you think that would happen with Wilson on the team? Do you think anybody touches Cousins with Wilson on his line? Its the perfect fit.

First, we’d likely have to give up too much to get him

Second, he’s ALWAYS hurt

Third, tough guys DO NOT deter cheap shots & i don’t find much value in retaliation

Fourth, he’ll be over 30 when his contract ends after next season & isn’t a guy we should sign again. We shouldn’t be spending assets on a guy who’ll be here for basically a year.
It’s a waste of assets

Terrible idea

MTL accepts.

Henri J is someone MTL went after when Bergavin was here .
He still fits MTL's needs after this year and gives propers support on all 3 pairings.

been saying it a lot but Wilson isn't being moved unless BUF (or TOR or whoever) gives up a package that would get whoever proposed it on here laughed out of the room

it might be something the canucks look at next year, but DJ has been everything we have wanted, plays up and down the lineup, he contributes a little bit, fights, hits, apperently a great locker room guy, the kinda guys we need, I think a similar offer would be available at the next TDL if not more. If he gets 30-35 points next year, he could get a 2nd or a prospect, but honestly I dont mind your trade with the 4th

agree to disagree, by that comment I am guessing you are more of a numbers /analytics/ gf% guy than you are a guy that thinks having muscle in the lineup that can play provides a huge advantage and helps the younger smaller players on the ice play with some freedom. I guess I will just have to lean on the countless amount of high end superstar NHL players that emphatically state the need for a few guys on the team that can make sure they dont get driven through the boards or physically intimidated after every whistle.. I guess guys like Gretz, Roenick, Hull, Briere, Bergeron are just plain wrong.

Not meant to be a slight or an insult, just a conversation piece, i respect your opinion either way.

Nope
I’m not an analytics guy AT ALL
And i was actually at the May Day game as a teenager btw
Standing room only seats in the Aud

What i can tell, by your list of examples of guys who have all been retired for a decade or more (besides Bergeron) is that you’re older than i am & don’t realize that the NHL has changed- DRASTICALLY changed
There’s no longer a need for “enforcers”
It’s not the 70s or 80s anymore bud

Enforcers weren’t even necessary when Briere played here (over a decade ago)
As evidenced by Peters always being scratched for the playoffs
Whenever it was important, he was in the press box- along with all the other meatheads
